Interlaced?

i know your tired of seeing this but i have a question
ive searched the forum(53 pages)
i still dont understand acouple of things
1. i have a movie WHITE CHRISTMAS r1
dvd2avi says 16:9 29.970 fps film progressive
but it is very interlaced i can see it on preview(dvd2avi)
so i tried with and without force film
the result is very noticable on tv (from authored dvd)
2. i thought if you were making a mpeg for dvd you didnt need to deinterlace?
same prob with beverly hills cop
done over 300 movies just now having these issues(very lucky i guess)

cce
spruce
without deinterlacing is there something im doing wrong?

I noticed the exact same problem.

No you don't have to deinterlace it...
the problem is with CCE. the upper field first flag is broken or something.

Try using TMpeg for that one interlaced movie you got.
I know its a lot slower but I think it might work.
I'm going to try it myself tonight. i have a DVD I'm trying to back up that's interlaced, and the results I got with CCE were really bad. It jerks all over the place whenever there's movement. But it looks fine on my PC.

I think Tmpeg tries to autodetect the field order.

can i use pulldown to correct?

Yes.. UPPER FIELD FIRST is the problem. if you activate this feature in CCE you wil get a very choppy movie in your standalone. the pc plays it ok.

I just rip with cce without UPPER FIELD FIRST and the result are good.
