I currenlty am Trying to capture 6 channel audio on an optical toslink comming into a Dragon Ultra p4x400 MotherBoard, with the c-Media 8738 chipset. With no luck.

I've sucessfully played back true 6 channel from VOB files from harddisk through powerdvd -- awsome. But when I encode from the toslink using (using NanDub or Virtual Audio) -- it seems I'm limited to only capturing stereo. I have successfully captured Stereo/Prologic Dolby signals throug the optical link. But I see no option to encode raw PCM.

I've tried leaving the 2 channel capture settings at 48k & 44.k respectively and capturing 6 channel audio feed. It plays back with noise and a rythmic pop. I then used NanDub to try and separate the audio and rename to ac3 - but the audio form the resultant file did not play any audio.

Am I missing something simple, or do I have some incompatible hardware?

Thanks for any help.

you need special hardware like the far eastern pirates who put Laserdisc onto DVDs including dolby digital sound. Don't ask me about specifics as I don't know more than that.

E-Male - have you seen the thread? Can you point me in the right direction. I've been searching and reading all about audio capture (plenty of ripping) but not much on capturing 6 channel audio. Sorry to be a pest. I've read the faq and their links as well.

I've seen one thread that seemed to be waiting for someone to write a driver. But it was pretty old.

Cheers,
