Hi.

I have just finished encoding Road Trip and, to my amazement, although it's a 90 min movie, the 1 CD rip yielded a compress. check of 35,6% at an output resolution of 640x352. The 2 CD rip had a copressibility check of 76% at the same resolution and the output file was no undersized.

I have watched both version of the rips (1CD and 2 CD) and I have found out that the 1 CD rip is a bit low in quality in some high-demanding scenes. On the other hand, I think that 2 CDs are a lot for a 90 min movie.

How many CDs did you use for it ?

I encoded this movie quite some time ago, using DiVX 4.x and Gordian Knot. I only used one CD, but due to the length of time ago that I worked on this movie, I can't remember the specifics of the encoding process...
IMO, the quality turned out VERY well.

Also, IMHO, 2CDs for a 90Min movie is overkill.

... 2 CDS but i added a bunch of extras and a second soundtrack so the actually movie size without audio came to about 900 megs.
the quality was decent.

This was the first movie I encoded with Divx4, I had to lower the resolution a bit, but I was very pleased with 1 CD. It didn't look as good as it could, but it was acceptable quality and I don't think the difference was worth the extra CD.

This seems to be one of those movies that are right inbetween 1 and 2 cds. If you use one, the quality suffers, if you use 2 then its overkill. Here is where personal preference takes over. I used 2, ac3 audio, made the resolution as high as possible, and added subtitles. Still didn't take up the whole 2 cds but it was close.
