Hi. I have a MPEG4/DiVX type file that will not fit onto 1 700MB CD. SO I thought I would chop it in half and put it on two CD's.
However if I open it in Vdub (Any versions/mods) it opens it fine and plays it back fine. But will not let me save it as direct stream copy (Also it parses the file when opening it). It gives an error "The source video file uses a compression algorithm which is not compatible with AVI files. Direct stream copy cannot be used with this video stream"
I have every codec under the sun installed (Nimo: I know. Not a good idea. But I had no choice in this instance and it covered a lot of bases). No luck yet.
When hex editing the file it's header says this.
RIFF$^P-CDXAfmt
Now what the heck is that? It looks like something you get when you do one of those mode2cd type things where you get up to 800mb on a 700mb CD-R. This would make sense I suspect looking at the filesize which is 760mb. The question is of course. How do I get it back into a editable DiVX type format?
EDIT: Nevermind. Some idiot renamed a MPEG1 file to AVI. D'OH!
