Hi -

I am ripping a DVD to SVCD. The final product looks and sounds fine, but there is a faint (ringing) sound in the backgroud. The ringing sound does NOT show up on the Original DVD or on the ripped VOB files or on the *.wav file after going through DVD2AVI. The ringing only shows up in the final *.MPG after going through TMPGenc. I have not had this problem ever before and I do alot of DVD rips.

What could be causing this sound ?? Here is my ripping info:

Ripper = SmartRipper
Convertion = DVD2AVI
Encoder = TMPGenc
TMPGend settings are Super Video-CD PAL (MPEG-2 480x576 25fps 2-PASS VBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps) NO filters except for DE-Interlacing set to double.

Thanks for any thoughts on this !

This is the wrong forum. All problems belongs to basic forum. But only problems with the program called 'DVD2SVCD'. As you didn't use it, you are in the wrong forum two times with one single post. ;-)

Well since this was a SVCD encodeing issue I thought this would be the correct forum ?? I am sorry if it is the wrong place, but to me it seemed logical.

If you're using TMPG's internal mp2 encoder, try encoding with tooLAME instead (comes with BeSweet) and see if the same problem occurs.

It is also possible that you mpeg playback system/directsound system are behind the strange thing. So try to:
1. play them back on another compter, if still so then:
2. encode the same thing on anothe computer
(alternatively you can do: format c: and reinstall OS)
