Hi,

I updated the firmware under XP Home Edition of the A04, which went successfully.

After the machine rebooted, it now wont recognise the drive in windows and is looking for device drivers for it, which there arent any specifically.

It thinks it is a new piece of hardware.

Anyone any ideas as Im now without a burner....

You're talking about Pioneer DVD-RW A04/104, Right?
Sorry to tell you, but its looks like you've got you're self into serious troubles by flashing this drive.;)
Anyway...

1. Take a look in This (http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewtopic.php?t=7596) tread (almost everything Related to This Firmware Problem is there)
2. As your last(well, almost)reserve, you might want to try the Hardware Trick. (http://pioneer2x4all.kicks-ass.net/)

Please comeback And Tell Us whether it's helps to solve your problem.

He doesn't need the hardware trick. He always has the chance to use a hacked UPGDVD.EXE
Look here: http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewtopic.php?t=8463

But i read (and tried myself) that the latest firmware upgrade from Pionner to A04/104 has a UPGDVD.exe that allows a flash of a prior firmware. Look here: http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewtopic.php?t=9405

Absolutely, In My Opinion a Hacked RPC-1 + 2x4all FM is The Right Way to Go.

BTW: he should know about hardware trick, although he might never gonna use it.

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses, Ive just got them after the xmas break, so I shall look at the solutions this evening back at home.

What I have found is that although Windows is demandng a driver for the 104, if I cancel, the drive is still actually usable and can read and write DVDs.

Its a relief but its a real pain whenever XP starts that it finds this new hardware every time and searches for a driver.

Thanks everyone for the posts.

As it turned out my XP installation went mad and started blue-screening on startup.

After reinstalltion I no longer get the recognition problems and it works fine.
