I have converted human voice (no music) from tapes to WMA files. The resultant files has lot of noise/hissing in the back ground. How could get rid of the noise and just extract the voice part.
Are there any freeware programs available for the same. Any help is greatly appriciated.
Thanks

Try the noise reduction plugins for Sonic Foundry Sound Forge. Sorry tho, its not freeware, but it will reduce the hiss problem.

hi,
try a lowpass filter around 18.7 or 17.5 mhz i think this will remove metalic sounds (a big bug in the wma codec). u could do this lowpass using besweet but sonic foundry have surely this function.
Bye, and good luck :)
