What happened to the AVI with Ulead

Hi all, I have a question for a friend who does not have an internet connection. He is using Ulead 5.5 to capture VHS. He says he gets the question about format and he picks AVI. When the caputer is completed he can find no *.avi extention. Does Ulead give it an different extention? If yes is it as simple as renaming the file created to a .avi in order to use it as AVI file? Sorry for the lame questions but I dont know Ulead.

I don't know Ulead either but if the program asks you for a filename or allows you to set a default capture filename, then set it to something unique and then do a search for it after the capture is completed to see what extension it gave it.
