I got a D8 SONY TRV310E. After recording some video and transfering it to the HDD using a normal IEE1394 (chipset Lucent, I think), viewing it with the directshow filter of Win98/WinXP or by Panasonic DV codec in VirtualDub, the image seems to have this strange vertical lines, even after [a zone area] deinterlacing. What is wrong ? Is this suppose to happen ? Is my InterGraph 21" responsable for viewing the compression artefacts too big ? I thought DV means about 3:1 = broadcast quality, is this normal ?

1) The JPG is very hard compressed - it's hard to see what you're trying to show, and what is caused by the JPG compression. Upload PNG image or 100% JPEG image.
2) DV is fairly high quality, but if your source is noisy (as it definately is here) it will still create blocks. Clean source = few compression artifacts = "more broadcast quality". Don't expect wonders here. Use Beta/Digi-beta/SX or similar if you want better quality.
3)Considering your source, it seems the deinterlacer is doing a fine job. Cleaner source = better deinterlace (more details preserved).
4) You don't mention which deinterlacer you use. You might want to try the AviSynth Fielsdeinterlace filter from Donald Grafts "decomb" package (see the AviSynth forum FAQ). This might also help, if (and only if) your DV-decoder filter have broken chroma upsampling (which results in wrongly placed colors).

The lines have nothing to do with the deinterlacing, as far as I can see. More likely the chosen resizing method is to blame (bilinear?). Try Bicubic or Lanzcos resize.

bb : I did a 2X from the virtualdub panels view. Again, only to make those artefacts be more evident. Trust me, it's not because of the resize. That was only for a screenshoot more obvious, the clip is not like this :)
shodan : The JPG is compressed indeed, but those lines were there before. In fact, the zoom applied had this purpose, not to let the compression interfere with the visual problem, I mean the multimedia algorithm did damage a little, but those blocks aren't from there.
I used smart deinterlace 2.6. I can't afford Digi-BETA, but I think you're right : the noise consumes the bandwidth of the DV codec so this might be the hidden reason. As soon as posible I'll capture another portion shooted outside in sun light, but I think I've allready found the problem. Thx !
