i was looking for bbdmux on the download page but didnt find it, later i read bbtool somewhere...

well, is it possible to make a mp2 file louder (like with normalize)?
or do i have to convert to wav to perform this?

will mp2->lame->mp3 result in better quality than
mp2->virtualdub->wav->lame->mp3, or does lame convert to wav anyway?
because this way normalization is no problem.

because this way normalization is no problem. you can use BeSweet to directly go from mp2 into normalized mp3.

LAME also goes directly from mp2->mp3, but normalization isn't offered.
