Using miroDC30+ with Win2000

I have been using a DC30+ for several years, and until last
week was using it quite happily under win98.

I decided to upgrade the OS to win2000, but the card now
does not operate the way it was...

win98 : I could use the *audio* section of the card for all
my audio stuff, stand alone editing, etc. It showed
up as an available audio device.

win2000 : I can't use the audio stand alone (it does not
show as an audio device). The audio works, but *only*
when using the special media player, and selecting
'miro AVI cache...' to pay an AVI.

Has anyone out there installed a DC30 under win2000, and is
there a way around this? Alternately, am I better off sticking
with win98?

You need Windows 2000 drivers for the card. Go to the Pinnacle web site for details.

Hi Donald,

I had been attempting to use the 1.42 drivers, so I tried the 1.41a
drivers as you suggested, but the result was exactly the same.

I do not wish to install a separate sound card in the computer, and
have the associated problem of switching between the standard sound
card and the sound output from the video capture card...

I should be more specific...
Under W98 : I could use apps like CoolEdit to edit a soundtrack
and then import it straight into premiere, render it, and
play it immediately without cable changing etc. CoolEdit and
other apps like winamp could play through the DC30 - good to
listen to MP3s while working :)

Under W2000 : I can't use audio output through the DC30 except
when actually playing an AVI. No MP3 and no stand alone editing :(

I am about to install a Studio 8 DV editing card, and hence wanted
to move to W2000. Apparently, W2000 is a bit more stable for video
editing stuff anyway. I'll have to see if the studio 8 works with
W98...

filters page, lots of links, but no hints as to what filters
are actually there...
