Go to the front page of doom9 and click on 'The Guides' and then 'DivX Guides'. Follow these guides to get a basic XviD Rip going and when you have that going, read posts in this forum to pick up some of the advance tips. I recommend reading Iago's 2-Pass Linear Scaling Document. You can find it in this forum if you search.

You want to take an XviD AVI and convert it to MPEG-2 so you can burn it to a DVD? If so, then it might be better to post in one of the DVD forums for followup, because XviD is just another AVI file.
Basically, just load your AVI into CCE or TMPG and encode to MPEG-2 from there (or you can load into Avisynth first and filter/resize). Extract the Audio to WAV in VirtualDub, and encode the resulting file to AC3 with Besweet.
