is this right for compression

im using divx 5.02..
file size-637 megs
movie lengh-225 minutes
framrate-23fps
date rate-73bps
video sample size-24bit
audio bit-128
res-720x480
all this is in the video property's.
i set the video bit rate at 360 though.i used the bitrate calculator.
im using flaskmepg with divx pro 5.02.in flask it shows 352x288.
i want to up the video quality as u see 73bps..
what do i need to change or do?.

Hi,

short answer: Increase the filesize! More than 90 minutes on a 650 MB CD-R will look scaring (even 90 minutes won´t look really good). I´d use a minimum of 3 CDs for a 225 min video. btw: which movie lasts 225 minutes??? Even "The Ten Commandments" do not last that long!

If you really want to put 225 minutes to one cd,you will have to use very low audio bitrate(like 96) and mono. For video , I belive, uing divx5/xvid 2pass encoding you can receive something "watchable" only with very small resolution (like 320*200) Otherwise, you will get only big quad blocks.
Ps. I once downloaded a BraveHeart(3hours) on 1cd in divx3 (not sbc) Video part was only 430mb!!!! After watching this "movie" i was ready to kill anyone:angry: :devil: ,i swear, all because of quality. So best thing ,use advice in previous reply

Yes, to get good quality and a fairly high res you are going to need to put it on 3cds. BTW why are you encoding at 720 X 480? Obviously, you aren't cropping and resizing to the right aspect ratio. Get rid of Flask too and get GordianKnot it is way better and be sure you check out some of the guides on this site as well for it they are very good and you will get good results. When you encode it again make sure that your bit pixel ratio is higher than 0.2 so you do not get so many blocks, drop the resolution till it is higher than 0.2. GordianKnot will calculate this for you.

I agree with BoNz1 in that u need to get rid of flask and get gknot so you can encode in a more powerfull manner. Read some of the filtering threads in the avisynth forum if u do get gknot. With the right filters you could get decent video(640xh) on 2CD's(1CD is unrealistic for anything resembling a quality encode at that length), though you will probably need to use VBR .ogg (96kbs) audio (VBR mp3 is BAD) (which means switching to OGM container) to squeeze as much out of the bits as possible. With the right filters during the encode and postprocessing(ffdshow) filters you can get something nice that is that long on 2CD's (depends upon compressability).

However, if you don't want to learn an entirely new(and more difficult) method of encoding, just go for 3CD's and you'll be fine.
