serox, you probably should have done some searching before posting this question. Backing up DVDs is outlined in many guides, including the ones posted at www.doom9.org. Read em.

What i meent was that i am going to burn a movie that i have made myself, but every time i am trying to do that, this message comes up: The dvd is copy-protected and cannot be read.
I got a company to make the first one(very good).
I'm not asking how to burn dvd's only this home made movie.
:)

Ok, you're still losing me. How about this -

1) What program are you using to burn the DVD with (from your home made movie)

2) What brand of DVD burner are you using?

3) What brand of DVD blank are you using?

2.Sony dru 500a
3.MMore( it's working well on all the other home movies i made)

Two things:

- Never heard of the brand MMore

- "The dvd is copy-protected and cannot be read" - how can you get that message when you try to write a DVD??

MMore is a very good brand.
I get the message when i try to write a DVD because the DVD I'm trying to burn is a DVD of me on a wakeboard and I had a company to make the first DVD example.
So I think that they maybe put a lock on it.
MMore are very good to burn DVD things on, so it is not that. :o

See, this is what I have a hard time with. You're getting the error message that the DVD "cannot be read" when you're trying to burn?? That doesn't make any sense.

If the disc were copy protected, I would imagine you'd get the error message while trying to READ the original DVD (not burn a blank). Then I'd say YES, it's possible they set something to protect the disc from being duplicated.

Are you trying to copy the DVD from one drive to another? In other words, you have two DVD drives (1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD burner), with the source in one and the blank in the other?

Yes I have 2 dvd drives and I get the error message while trying to read the original.
And I'm trying to copy the dvd from one drive to another.
Do you have a good answer for me Padre?

Yes, don't do disc-to-disc. Get a copy of DVDDecrypter (can be found on www.doom9.org page) and make an ISO image on your hard disk (copy the original DVD to an image), then use DVDDecrypter to burn that image to your burner.

Most commercial burning software looks at the copywrited setting on the original, and that's what you're running into. DVDDecrypter doesn't.

Thanks for all the help Padre.
I'm going to try it tomorrow.

well actually DVD decrypter is a ripper.
meaning it is meant to remove that copyright stuff so that you can do whatever you want with the files, copying them to another DVD is one of them, the main reason actually.

Well, to be totally accurate, DVD Decrypter is also a burning utility as it can burn as ISO file via DVD burner.
