Hi guys,

I normally do DVD backups with some success but I wanted to try and backup my Simpsons box set.

Using DVD2SVCD I set everything up but in the conversion settings under movie length I only get 22mins which is only one episode, I want them all (there are 6) I can select from the drop down each one but does this mean that I have to have an episode per CD backup or can I rip the whole DVD.

I know I am probably being thick but please help guys.

In the bitrate tab, if you set the CD size to 260MB you should get 3 on each CD or 400MB if you want top quality, although i wouldn't have thought animation as basic as Simpsons would really need those kind of bitrates.
As far as I know you'll still have to encode each one individually but once done just burn with Nero or your favourite burnin proggy

Hope this helps

Cheers for the help, I will try that but still wonder whether it is possible to do it all at once, the episodes are in 1 set of VTS files and I can select individual chapters for the epsiodes but not all the epsiodes, im still learning but is this a multi PGC DVD?

Keep helping peeps. Please

I might of sussed it if I say Frame Selction and select all Frames it says the movie length is over 2 hours, trying it now.

I just did all 3 soprano seasons 39 svcds. Each episode was about 50-59mins so one fit on one svcd. I used DVDDecrypter to select the various PGCs.

To do you simpsons...you can do one dvd all at once. Just select 'File' mode in DVDDecrypter and it'll rip all vobs of the movies (not bonus stuff though). Then you can let dvd2svcd do the rest. Choose the .ifo you just ripped to your hd. Then go to misc tab and choose default folder, disable dvd ripping and most important of all. Remember if you have synch problems (I used to in the past but not recently) then it's due to not using internal routines. DVD2SVCD isn't the best at handling multiangle, multiple-episode DVDs.

I reiterate: Be careful about using !! and special characters in your titles.

hi, i am obviously inept and far below the level of this BASIC forum and my question is Very Stupid (but there MUST be a simple solution, since this is an everyday case, almost a whole GENRE of dvd. One would expect this to be included in D2S routine on-screen CONTROL buttons).

There are serials, you know, that consist of, say 3 or 4 episodes. Such as "sympsons","sex and the city", "sopranos","blackadder"," jeeves & wooster" "monty python" etc. You click on the "Disk" icon and yes, it gives you The.ifo file (which is actually the ONE and ONLY.ifo file on the dvd !) with a corresponding length of movie, say 30' minutes = simply ONE out of many episodes x 30' each. and then of course the whole process results -smoothly- in a svcd.mpg file to watch that is ... just ONE episode, the longest usually, from the content of the original dvd.

Not always, mind you: it happened with some "monty python" dvds that the click on CD icon brings -again the ONLY.ifo file- but with the FULL length of the original dvd that is some 90' or 120' minutes.

The point i am trying to make to you wise people inventors of such an elegant and efficient process is that under the "conversion" tab there must be a button control allowing the full length of a 3- or 4-episode dvd serial to be encoded and not only the associated with the .ifo file ONE episode.

thanks for your patience and advise.

oh, btw, the CCE logo in front of the screen is EASILY removable with one ridiculously small (only 10 kb!) and efficient file.exe...
