Hi,

I've been encoding films with GKnot 026.1 and Divx Pro for awhile and the Video quality is great for the filesize. With the gracious assistance from DSPGuru I have the audio dialed in for Ogg.

What I'm looking for now is a way to change the RC Averaging period to a value much larger than the default 2000 frames. The way I encode (Force film to 23.976 f/s) the video bitrate is averaged across @ 85 seconds. Some movies have larger segments of low or high motion, and I would like to adjust for more accurate bit allocation throughout the movie. Is there a way to adjust this value in GKnot? I haven't found a way, maybe I can't . When I first started encoding, I used DVDx, and you could adjust everything in Divx. I would prefer not to go back down that road, too many annoying little problems. If I must go the long way using command line interface, I would appreciate it if someone more knowledgeable the me (just about anyone here) could point me in the right direction.

I found the question several times and it was always answered that there was no elegant solution. So I always do audio encoding and avs script in Gordian Knot and then I encode the script manually with Virtual Dub. That means open the avs in Virtual Dub, set Video to "Fast recompress", switch to "compression" and then adjust the codec settings just like you are used to from DVDx. The only problem is that you will have to recalculate the correct bitrate yourself.

After encoding you start Nandub, open your encode and append the credits. "Video" must be set to "direct stream copy". In "Audio" you add your sound and in "interleaving" you probably have to correct the delay just like it is stated in the end of your audio file's name.

Thanx for the info. I just tried with a single VOB with High and low motion scenes, it works beautifully, again Thank ya.

For anyone interested I just read that if you add the job in GordianKnot, but don't hit encode yet, then open VirtualDub you can adjust the DivX settings from there (Video -> Compression -> DivX -> Configure -> Advanced Paramaters tab). The settings will apparently stay the same for your encode. I read that here (http://forums.divx.com/viewtopic.php?topic=40228&forum=6) by the way.

False, GKnot set ALL the DivX 5 parameters.

My mistake, I've just read other posts that confirm that you're right jonny. One of them is about a tool called vdubconf that allows you to set all DivX parameters while still using GKnot (by tricking it into thinking it's starting vdub when it's not). That thread is here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25708&highlight=vdubconf).
