My latest tumble with cheap stuff that is suppose to work with my Pioneer A05 at 2x provided me only 1x speeds. Ugh. Currently running firmware 1.00. If anyone has had some luck with cheap media, or for that matter, any 2x media, AT 2x speeds on the A05, (specifically suffering from same firmware as me. lol), that would be great. Im going nuts. As much as I like 4x media, I only use that on special occasions due to the cost. Need the cheaper 2x alternative. And 1x is just too slow for my liking. Post your results please. (since the comptability list is long over-due for another update). Thanks.

I have produced good DVD-Rs with:
Fuji (relabeled Pioneer)
TDK
Verbatim
They are not cheap, but they have all scored well in c'ts test.
Nearly all cheap media had a bad errorcorrection or bad results for the accuracy of the pregroove and its markers.

They have not published it online, as they are a magazine which sells printed copies :-)
Btw: I forgot to mention that I have the DVR-A05 as well.
