Hi, I have found that using the Premastering tool in DVD maestro you can create images just like imagetool. Image tool .89 has a bug in the way it arranges directories I believe it puts the audio_ts first instead of the video_ts directory. After 0.89 I have found that images burned using its built in function don't work on my xbox. The premastering tools in maestro let you create an image just like imgtool. It even has options for reencoding CSS ( I think thats correct ) and macro vison , although I have never used these options myself. I have used this several times with great results.

1) You are right about the order of *_TS (CouJo has confirmed it)

2) Maestro Ver.2.9 has the premaster tool. It produces *.img images which are iso (mountable with Daemon Tools). A bit slower than ImgTools 0.89 though.

3) Have been using Maestro for authoring, but never (!) thought of using it this way.... ;-)

well, what exactly is meant with "using premaster tool for image creation"? How do you use it? Start DVDMaestro, then menu "tools", "disc image creation"? Doesn't this need an open project in DVDMaestro, so isn't useless if you already have readly VIDEO_TS folder?

In Maestro (v.2.9 at least), using the "Tools" -> "Disk Image Creation [Alt-D]" function you can generate an ISO image from a set of: { VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS } files { VOB, IFO, BUP }.

Now, whether you have a Maestro project or not it is totally irrelevant. You can either use Maestro to generate your own authored video-dvds or get them from altering existing disks.

By the way:
Since the 1st post in this thread, I have been using Maestro (using default *.LAY file structure) for my image: as robust as ImgTools :)

Well, just tried it myself: started DVDMaestro(2.9), "tools", "disc image creation", DVDMaestro aborted to windows...
Weird.

You mean without even a message from Maestro??? (Maestro gives an error if the directory does not contain VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders).

If Mestro was aborted, it means some critical occured, e.g. the DLL was missing and the code threw some exception. Check if the ImageTools.dll file is there. Or maybe some disk location was invalid.... weird indeed!!!

The imgtools.dll is there. I have a separate empty partition where I create my VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders.

Maestro quits with no Message, it just disappears.

What do you mean with "some disc location invalid"? DVDMaestro Dir is on D:, my partition with DVD-structure is on K:. Did I miss some config with the directories before I chose "create disc image"?

I meant that maybe you give a path that does not exist or you do not have access to write there (although it is unlikely that Maestro just exits because of that!). Do you have both VIDEO/AUDIO_TS folders within another subfolder in K? Try different locations of these folders and the target image. Also, try different VOB/IFO files just in case they are corrupted and finally, try a different Maestro installation... I am not sure the OS may cause problems, but you may need re-installation as well!!! :-(
