Hi all,
I recently purchased Ritek 2x DVD-r. Gold with maroon bottom. I am running fimrware 1.31. I have burned 3 DVD's at 2x speed with Nero, and all burned fine, but when I play them they get bad about 1/2 way through. Am I missing something or did I waste my $ on these disks. I have burned almost 200 Princo 1X DVD-r with no issues.

Thanks,

Flanman

You've probably gotten a bad batch...can happen with Ritek. Are you sure these are Ritek G03, not Ritek G01?

Flanman, use ADVDInfo to find out what version of Ritek they are (G1..G3). Also, where did you buy them?

I believe I bought them at either supermediastore.com or Meritline.
Will be using ADVinfo tonight to check the disks.

I bought a 100 pack of G03's and 1 out of 10 would fail at 2X speed, none would fail at 1X. The 2nd 100 pack ($0.83 USD from supermedia) all burn at 2X w/o error.

don't ritek G3's have a dark purple dye?

Yes, Ritek's have a dark purple dye. They also usually have a serial number that starts with a C1-xxxxxxxx or E5-xxxxxxxx. And part of the center ring/hub of the disc is kind of foggy, not crystal clear.
