XviD-09122002-1: oversize problem

I've been compressing an 1 hour 640x480 movie and set the 2npass size to 455680KB. However, the output filesize is 726 MB (762,275,258 bytes).

(I'm doing the 2pass encode properly...
First 1st pass, and then 2ndpass int.)

The output filesize looks like it's constant Q2?!

i guess you used the '2nd-pass external' mode instead of 2nd-pass internal. imo this one ignores the filesize setting because it is desingned to read from an externally scaled stats file, which would the already contain the compression information. might be entirely wrong though.

just saw that the xvid settings proggie also includes info about the selected 2nd pass mode and that you used 2nd-internal. so i don't know what might be causing this :(. sorry for the noise.

anyway, you could still try to externally scale your statsfile with koepi's stats reader and then do a 2nd-ext second pass. might help

only time ive ever had bad second pass size is if i change settings in between passes (proved by doing both passes over and getting a perfectly sized second pass) to avoid doing the first pass over i advise going with kilgor3's suggestion to externally scale (using koepis utility or g-knot)
