Greetings Folks,
I am totally grateful to all of you who have put so much time and work into making this site invaluable to newbies such as myself. Knowledge is hard to come by, and I truly appreciate those people with high intelligence and experience willing to take the time to help me.
I am wondering if this site is dedicated exclusively to those wishing to backup their DVD movies, which seem to me to be made in the -R format. Or if you are open to discussing the disc stucture of +VR format. In reading your basic authoring, you describe a different disc structure, but the same file formats. +VR has a folder called Video_rm/ with video_rm.bup, video_rm.dat, video_rm.dat, Video_mn.ifo, video_rm.ifo.
I am a freelance producer of all types of programs, (ProVideoPDX.com), and wish to take my shows to DVD's, by recording directly onto a Phillips DVDR-985 standalone DVD recorder in the +R/+RW format, (+VR). Then editing directly onto the master disc. I purchased NeoDVDplus basic authoring software that is able to write new menus, background, titles, chapter pictures, etc dirctly onto the master +RW disc.n You are also supposed to be able to copy your files to your HD then edit together sections from different discs.
I have two problems.
(1). When I copy to the HD, then load in the files from there, the video/audio lip sync gets whacked out by almost a sec. I see that if I rip the vob into MPEG2 and A3C, you are able to shift this timing. I downloaded Gordian Knot, and ifoedit, and the other software availible here hoping to be able to figure out how to do it, but it is over my head, since the guides and basic functions FAQ's are talking about a similar disc structure, but different enough to confuse me.
Is anyone in here familiar with the +VR format I am describing?
(2). It seems that at the time in installed the Gordian Knot, and other software, NeoDVDPlus became disabled, as well as PowerDVD. I can't figure out how to make them work again. Is it possible that one of the newly installed programs modified a file that was being used by NeoDVDPlus and PowerDVD? If so, how can I restore the original file, (codec?)?
I believe that if anyone on the web might know about this, it is the super-rippers in here.
Thank you very much for your time to read this, and any help you may provide to me.
David
