Question about making 2 DVD-R from 1 DVD

Hi I'm trying to rip We were soldiers.

The main movie is in the last set of vob's (4). Does this mean that the extra material have to be on the 1st disc and the larger second half of the movie on the second disc?

If the extras are small enough you can put them in both disks (which is the best solution, since you don't have to disable any menu).
However the placemento of this additional material is only your choice or related to the split point you choose.

Here's the problem.

VTS_04_2.VOB
VTS_04_3.VOB
VTS_04_4.VOB

This works when I use Windvd's Play from Folder function. But it doesn't work in my regular dvd player.

If I remove any of the ifo's (say 3) it doesn't work in windvd either.

Any ideas anyone?

I think your problem is you've missed the menu. When dvd starts playing it first goes to the menu (VIDEO_TS.VOB). So you have missed that file. If you want you can also miss it, but have to change the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, go in VMGM_MAT -> First Play PGC and put as last Pre command 'Jump to Titleset' with the number of the main movie titleset.

Remember to do always 'get vts sector'.

It was allready set that way. The main menu is located in the 4th set of vob's which only makes it weirder. Why do I have to have all ifo files present but not their vobs?

I believe you always need ifofiles of previous titleset because of a check of dvd players (error if not present).

Some other answers: have you got a VIDEO_TS.VOB file? have you tried to put it? You have already given the Jump to Tiltleset, but in VIDEO_TS.IFO file if you go to the titleset chosen does it point only at VTS_04_* ?

I give you another solution: since you don't need extras and menu on first dvd, rename alla vobs VTS_04_XX in VTS_01_XX (not including VTS_04_01) and with only these vob files in your dir open Ifoedit and select 'Create Ifos'. It will create new Ifofiles needed.
This solution goes well if you have only you film in the titleset.

When I have the IFO's it seems to work fine with windvd but not with my conventional dvdplayer. Do you have to use "get vts sectors" when doing 2 dvd. Cause I don't remember if I did that.

Otherwise I'll try the other way tomorrow.
