View Full Version : Convert MPEG2 Video with wrong dimensions to SVCD

Hi There.

I got an MPEG2 Video with dimensions 512*384. Burning this Video as SVCD lets my DVD-Player go mad. The lower half of the picture is flickering all the time. Sometimes the player Software even crashes.

Which program could I use to resize the Video to the correct dimension of 480x576 for PAL? Without the need to recompress the full Video so the quality does not suffer.
I tried the built in Nero MPEG2 Encoder, but the quality was definitely poor. Seems like Nero encoded only every 2nd line...
TMPGEnc Plus does not like this Video. It says "... can not open or unsupported". The Media Player has no Problems with this Video.

Formerly I got this Video as DivX AVI and converted via CCE to MPEG2. I used BBMPEG to mux Video+Sound and also used the "Add SVCD Scan Offsets" Option. Could this be the reason why TMPG does not like the Video?
I did not check the Dimensions while converting to MPEG2, and now I don't have the AVI anymore. The only thing is the wrong MPEG2...

Thanks for your help!

It is necessary to re-encode the mpg2 file to get a compliant SVCD stream. TMPG is the best choice - but you had better use the DVD2AVI and AVIsynth before(dont forget to use the ConvertToRGB32).

Thanks for the hint. So I need to reencode...
AviSynth works. Now TMPG likes the Video again... But CCE still crashes or complains it cannot open... But as I read I'm not the only one having problems with CCE.

I will reencode with TMPG. Thanks a lot!

CCE still crashes or complains it cannot open...
Did you try adding ResampleAudio(44100) at the end of your script, before feeding it to CCE?
That line would make it accept the script.

Isn't CCE2.5 the only version that allows for avs and the rest have to be framserved via vfap avi? Oo

CCE 2.66 also works with AVS scripts.

But it is very easy to convert with TMPG, it makes the resizing und format conversion automatically.
