I am new to the DVD backup scene and I am trying to find out information on the AC3 Delay shown when the VOBs are demuxed.

* Does the demuxed AC3 file have a timecode with the delay?
* If so does DVDMaestro read this timecode (I note looking at properties on the AC3 asset it shows nothing in the offset box)?

* Do I need to used the Create Sync Audio feature in DVDMaestro for
1) Syncing AC3 timecode?
2) To make video and audio assets exactly the same length?

Thanks

Hi, I had the same problem before. You have a couple of options. At first I used the AC3 delay correction application on this site's download section. However it always gave me AC3 streams that were a few frames off because it can only fix the delay based on 32 frames per sec.... so in other words, movies with a 8 second delay do not get a perfect sync.

Your other option is to use Headache's AC3 application. This one is great... you can make all kinds of conversions, even to wav files and its delay corrector seems on the money.

Each of these applications will correct the delay which you would use in place of the original .ac3 file.

A third option which I've tried but I do not suggest because of accuracy problems is to use the frames calculator on this site's download page to caculate the frame delay based on the number of seconds desired... then manually slide the audio track in maestro to the desired frame delay location... not very accurate and does NOT work for - negative delayed ac3 tracks (audio before video)

I'm sure there are better guys out there who could explain more and better, but these are just a couple of my experiences.

I hope this helps

Sho-nuff.
