DVD9 to DVD5 Full Copy method used from doom9
When dragging files into Nero I get Video Files Reallocation Failed error, if I ignor I then get Possible Read Error Occured Error - if I also ignor that Nero works fine to burn a image (awaiting delivery of DVD writer).
The image plays fine in WinDVD.
Any comments?

You should test these productions extensively with RWs. It seems that somewhere along the process, one step corrupted the integrity of some pointers in an .ifo-file.
The fact that Powerdvd or Windvd play the images shows that the error is minor, however these players are more forgiving than most standalonedevices.

I've tried the method twice and get the same error.
I cannot test on RW as still awaiting delivery of my dvd writer.

Mr. Zippy,
Your dilemna is very common in this forum and if you did a search on "nero reallocation", you would've got a lot of threads to read into. You didn't follow forum rule #1a.
I had the same exact situation a month ago and did the search, and what I came up with, saved me alot of coasters.
Use Imgtool 0.99.5. You can burn with reallocation or WITHOUT reallocation.

i have the same problem with wen i got my 105 i spoke 2 trilight about it and he said its fine 2 use the latest nero 5.5.9.17 so i did
and i have no problems atol with my standalone philips sony and so on
so from me i would just continue and burn if you have any major errors ifoupdate normally picks um up anyway

I did search the forum, and did not find any answers - probably bad spelling :)
And I am using the lastest version, and ifoupdate so something musy be wrong somewhere.

It means something is wrong with your files... regarding DVD compatibility. I burned a disc with that error... it played... but that was about it... no functionality.

i use nero in DVD-UDF and i have no problem at all. if i try to rip the DVD i just copied, it won't give any read errors.
The point is... if it works.... why bother :D

From what I can see Nero is check for DVD compliance, which mean in my case the IFOupdate cannot be working correctly.

As 2cool said there is stuff in the forum about it, but I would like to say that this is not Nero's only problem. Even if the ifo's are correct, Nero has lots of bugs. In the past I ignored the messages, even some crashes of Nero during re-allocation (with 2nd attempt without crash!). Towards the end many movies started "blocking"...
My *highly recommended* advice: use imgtools 0.89 to make an iso image and forget Nero... it can be trusted sometimes, but not always. With imgtools .89 I *never* got a coaster... it's worth the extra 3-5 minutes...

Which version of Nero did you use? The routines seem to have improved in the 5.5.9.x-releases.
I have used it to write some DVDs created not with ifoedit, but with commercial software, and Nero handled these just fine. ifos that were created with Ifoedit are somewhat more likely to have minor flaws, and the problems may also be related to the old theme garbage in, garbage out.

@delly01 (thanks for the reply)
1) agree; Nero has improved. I use 5.5.9.14, but still with problems
2)Ifoedit's generated files are far more susceptible indeed ! (Derrow has mentioned that in some thread for a particular problem as far as I remember)
3) I had problems with files not generated/amended with Ifoedit though. However, I cannot say anything about files generated (from scratch) by Maestro as I never tried that.
I think if Nero adopted the (simple) way the Authoringware's DLL of imgtools 0.89 does it would be pefect... Perhaps, Nero is either too strict or too lenient about the dvd-video assumptions it uses (and in both cases wrong about the remedial action it undertakes)... The common belief is that making the image with imgtools first is more robust... i think...

I use imgtool 0.99.5 and Nero 5.5.9.17. What I don't really like about Nero besides the "reallocation errors" is that it doesn't like files that are less than 2k.
Take for instance, I had Scooby-Doo meets Batman. In that DVD, there are two 0kb vobs. The whole disk can be backed up. When using Nero to burn the files, it gives out a message stating that a file under 2k has been detected and therefore corrupts the whole movie file system and Nero will refuse to continue. That sucked!
Nero has still has issues.

If Nero complains about 0K-Files, then they are probably not legal according to the DVD-standard and just there to make copying harder.

That reallocation error appears to have something to do with the modification dates. If the dates of some of your dvd files are different you will get that error.
Use the full Nero Burning Rom, not Express. Once you select DVD-Video or DVD-UDF, go to the dates tab. Select "Set volume creation and modication to current date and time". Then below select "Use Current Date and Time" for file dates. Now you will not get that reallocation error anymore. You will also not get that fail to read file error that comes up sometimes.
Hope this helped.

It made no difference here.
I have even tried FileTouch 2 to change the modified dates to the same also.

I also get this error. If I just go ahead and burn it will not play in my DVD player. Date-"fix" has no effect.
