I have a Pioneer A04 and I'm using the Ritek 1x DVD-R's that will write at 2x. The DVD-R's that I burn work perfectly in the DVD burner and perfectly in the 3 DVD players I have, but my LiteON 16x DVD-ROM simply clicks over and over like its trying to read it. The LiteON works perfectly on real DVD's. Im using Nero and the DVD-Video profile to burn. Any suggestions?

It's possible the DVD-ROM drive just isn't able to read the Ritek brand of DVD-R's. It's just like standalone DVD player compatibility, some DVD-ROMs will read/play only certain makes of DVD-R. I have an ACER DVD-ROM, it won't read anything but commercial DVDs and Pioneer DVD-Rs. Anything else, it just tries and tries and eventually times out.
I don't think there's anything you can do (burning-wise) that would change that situation.
(FYI: I burn mostly Ritek G3's (at 2x) with my Pioneer A03. They play in everything I own - except the DVD-ROM drive)

They don't play in the DVD-ROM because the discs are not good for 2x writing...

alexnoe, you're wrong. If I record them at 1x (and I have tried them at 1x), they won't play in the DVD-ROM either.
I've recorded plenty of them at 2x and they work fine for me in all my standalone players.

I agree. If they work fine at 2x in all my stand alone players (where there should be the least amount of compatability) then there should be no problem with my DVD-ROM.

You said your Lite-On works fine with "real dvds". So you never tried it with any other DVD-R? Try a Pioneer or name brand disc and see ifyour Lite-On works.
It could be that your Lite-On is the problem, not the Ritek discs
