I upgraded to windows xp and now I cant see my movies on TV with my labtop tv out. I can see everything that displays the labtop on tv but when I put a movie I just get a black screen. Does anyone know how to fix this?

try overlay settings , dispaly> settings > advanced> overlay> enable overlay on second device . or something like that , other wise make sure "use hard ware" is check if your using ffdshow filter.

If your Laptop's video chipset is ATI Mobility (Dell Latitude, for example), only the "primary" device can show video. On the "Displays" tab, set the TV to Primary and the LCD to Secondary.

I think jgimmi is right. Do you see both displays (laptop and tv) at the same time or just the primary device? Try using only one device and switch it back and forth between the laptop and tv.
