After having installed Gordian Knot, a very strange thing happened to my dvd/cdrw drives: i can't play back movies (both dvd and avi) from disc anymore - more correct: i can still play them, but there seems to be a synchronisation problem: sound is too fast - image jumps too fast.

When i play the files from hard disk, everything seems to be all right (both dvd and divx files)). Also, when i play from a CD in my home network, there are no problems.

I think there's a problem with conflicting codecs (tried to switch codecs on/off, changed priority etc) and not with system performance (see configuration). The best I could get after changing settings for the codecs is a smooth image with (sometimes) stuttering sound (some kind of echo).

Has anyone else encountered this problem, and is there a cure for it (without reinstalling windows)?.

Configuration:
media player 7.1
power DVD 3.0
windows 2000 professional
gordian knot installed

liteon DVD player
liteon CDRW 52 x 24 x52
pentium 4, 2.4 GHz
asus P4T533
256 MB Rambus 3200
GeForce 4600 Ti, 128 MB DDR
