With helix going open source, will this mean that we can expect in the near future divxplayers that can manage the rm and rmvb files?
and if someone adapts the software will it be possible to use the RV9 codec with for example virtual dub?
I just ask because I'm not so aware of software.
but if it would be possible, this would be a great approvement; because I like a lot the Rv9 codec, but the possibilties to encode, edit and playback are a litle bit limited seems to me

Even though the codecs and file format plugins are available as binaries only, the APIs that were released as open source, should make it even easier than before to create alternative players, and enable things that were previously not possible, like editors as well support in VirtualDub and for VirtualDub filters in producer. It is however still too early to know which will come first. Regarding alternative players, I was quite impressed with RealMedia playback in Media Player Classic...

I think it's just an update with minor bug fixes to RealOne V.2. If you already have V.2, you should be fine, but there were a lot of improvements from V.1 to V.2, especially with regards to nice behavior.
