Minority Report - No "Disc Two"!

Ok, I just got back from Blockbuster. When I first rented the disc and got in the car, I noticed there was only one disc and it said "Disc One" on it. I went back inside and said they forgot to include the second disc. Then I was told that Blockbuster does not have to rent the second disc and they don't do that anymore!!

I complained and told the manager that half the reason I rent DVD is for the extras and not including them is absurd. He then pulled out a set of "extras" discs from a bunch of movies and handed me the one for Minority Report. He said that they are not obligated to rent the second disc! I couldn't believe it! Anyway, I am typing a letter up to send to BB corporate today.

Moral of this story?? Don't let them hand you a line of crap about not having the second disc or that they won't rent it to you. They DO have it and they CAN give it out!! ASK for it!! Then come home and send a letter to Blockbuster for being greedy asses!!

I don't even care for BB anymore. They don't offer the things other places do. The ones around me rarely have widescreen movies, they never have any new releases, and they don't give credit for returning new releases the next day. Hollwood Video and Hastings (similar to Barnes & Noble, only crappy) do all these things. And on top of that, they're cheaper for older rentals ($2 as opposed to $3.50). I'm gonna go pick up Minority Report later, hope it's as good as everyone says it is.

Heh! What happened? Did the Post Office lose too many of your DVDs? I'm kind of borderline myself. But I'm in the process of switching to Greencine (http://www.greencine.com/main.jsp), so I don't care much about NetFlix anymore. Greencine is kind of light on the Hollywood Blockbuster movies, but for the strange, rare and unusual, it beats NetFlix by a mile. They have a 2 week free trial, so it's worth a try.

The only time I go to the rental store is when hollywood video sends me a pack of $.99 rentals. Luckily I got one a few weeks ago because Netflix is sucking very much right now due to mail delays. A movie I would have normally gotten by Saturday hasn't shown up yet, 3+ days later. Last year they actually did something cool and increased everyones number of discs out (from 3->4) for the month of December because they know how screwed up the mail gets, but not this year.

I hear the limit is 5 titles lost. Of course, every situation is different and Netflix doesn't treat it's custumers like a number so your milage may va...BHAAAA, just kidding. Of course they treat you like a number.

If you checkout google groups you'll see that the NY area appears to have a very large loss rate, compared to other areas. I've been a member for over a year, using the boston distro center for 9 months, and haven't lost 1 dvd.
