DVD2SVCD 1.1.0.b1c crashing on dual/HT machines

Hi,

I am trying to run the latest version of DVD2SVCD on a 3.06GHz system with HT enabled. In 4 out of 5 times is crashing directly while starting with a Runtime Error 216. When I set the compatibility to Win98/ME in Windows XP for DVD2SVCD, which basically sets the process affinity to processor 0, the program runs without problems.

Same problem when the software runs on a real dual system.

There is probably some race condition somewhere when starting up the program, maybe you can take a look at it.

I would be very pleased and honored to help you, if you don't have a dual/HT system available.

I'm aware of several people who use D2S on dual processor systems, without trouble. Yours may be a specific situation.

DVD2SVCD works perfectly in dual processor machines. I`ve used it in dual PIIIs and dual Athlons without a problem both in W2K and WXP.

I have a dual xeon 2.80 and dvd2svcd runs perfectly (even with hyperthreading enabled), however, I have a second pc with a P4 3.06 and have used 3 different motherboards and in each case when I enable hyperthreading I have trouble opening dvd2svcd. As soon as I disable hyperthreading the problem is gone. Does anybody have any suggestions.

Your report of a problem with Hyperthreading is not unique.

I do not know of any solution except to disable it when you plan on encoding.

Same problem here with a P4-3.06 HT machine.

9 out of 10 times DVD2SVCD crashing right at startup...

Looks like DVD2SVCD (1.1.3 Build 2) can't handle the HT....

Posted it as a bug, but got answer back that probably my memory
was bad....
