If I'm working with a program like Ulead DVD workshop or spruceup which takes MPEG2 files, is it ok to mux an m2v and ac3 file together into an MPEG2 since my player doesn't support MPEG2 sound? Would this be a compliant MPEG2?

well aparently it doesn't work, Ulead freezes and Spruce won't import them

This is not DVD Authoring. May I ask why you posted this question here? What is it you're trying to do exactly? I don't get it.

Commander XJL,
Spruce Up works just fine in importing m2v & ac3 files.
The important thing to remember is that they both must have the same file name (different extention though *.m2v & *.ac3)
Just tell it to import the m2v file, and it will automatically import the ac3 file afterwards (must be in the same directory).
HomerJ :)
TRILIGHT :- I guess he put it under this heading, as both pieces of software he's talking about are authoring applications.

Oh, I see. Sounded like he just wanted to mux the two files into a single MPEG file. Didn't sound like DVD authoring to any sort of IFO/VOB structure. Just MPEG file creation. That's what confused me.
