n00b question:interlaced

Kinda newbe question,but wat does "interlaced","deinterlaced" and "progressive frames" mean.I really like to know this since these option are wide spread.

If any1 has some spare time to explain i would be very gratefull.

I think this is a cool page as there are many samples on your subject. Just looked into my bookmarks and picked one. I had to pretty much self-teach myself on learning about the video world and it's lingos when I started doing VCDs.
