On two dvds i have tried to split to two discs using ifoedit i have run into a similar problem. Though the movie functions fine if i start if from the chapters menu, if i try to start it from the play button in the main menu it just stops. The screen goes blank, the disc stops playing, and nothing happens. Strangely if i start the movie from chapter 2 from the scene select menu, then go back until i reach the very begining the movie plays that first chapter fine, and if i then hit the menu button, and hit the play button from the menu, it works fine.
Does anyone have any idea whats wrong or where I could look to trouble shoot?
Does anyone know where i can look in ifo edit or vob edit to check out the function of the play button in the dvds menu? (or what it should be doing)... I should also mention that going to chapter 1 in the scene select menu causes the movie to start without trouble!?!?! is there anyway i can map the dvd play button to just do exactly what that chapter 1 button does?
any information generally relating to this may be something i don't know that could lead me to what i need and would be appreciated.

Did you test play your movie in ifoedit from start to chapter 1 play and see which titles played? What movies did you split? maybe, I've done it.

actually, sadly, i can't use the test play button, i have to emulate a windows 2000 enviornment so that i can use ifoedit (im on a mac) and one of the problems (besides the horrible speed) is that I can't use the play button in ifoedit, is there any otherway to check this out? the movies are count of monte cristo and fight club

Maybe if you pop your original DVD into PowerDVD or standalone and look at the titles on the the display. I haven't done your movies yet but I was interested in doing Count of Monte Cristo a couple of weeks ago.

well it seems as though very little is known about how to deal with menu buttons. I checked the forums heavily and found many unanswered questions on it... so instead as a work around I am just going to have the movie start playing when you put the disc in, instead of going to the menu first. That way I won't have to worry about people hitting the play button when the movie hasn't started yet, because it iwll always have started.
The problem is that Derrow went and made his guides all require a login, can someone help me change this thing to start with the movie playing? for some reason I just can't set the damn thing properly. If i set it to start with title set 1 then the menu starts it off... and i can't figure out what i have to do to get hte movie to start it up?!?!
damnit!

b00junk,
The answer is always in the last place you look. Just wanted to say that. Here is what you are looking for.

Unfortunately, I can't get the graphics to show. If you need more guidance, just reply again.

thats just the problem, i was goign off the same idea offered in the guide... change it so that it jumps to the first titleset and the first chapter... which is exactly what it says plays during the first chapter when i watch the movie with information on. Thus i edit the first play pgc and change the last of the precomands to Jump to titleset 1, and for some reason it just then skips the normal copywrite screens and starts with the main menu, if i set it to jump to titleset 2 (just thought i would try) then it goes to menu again, and yet, titleset 3 brings it to the third chapter? every other title set gives an error... I can't find any succes jumping to a specific chapter either. I really appreciate all your help with this, i just can't figure out why this movie won't play nice. Any ideas?

well, i actually found a workaround to make it happen. i just stripped out the the three other precommands that showed up before the jump TT comand that i was trying to work with and then i made the only comand that jump TT comand just as I was trying to do before and now it starts with the movie and it works out decently enough. i have no idea what those other precommands did but hell... i guess i can't be too picky. Thanks alot for your help, and any further insight you can still offer is much appreciated.

I have not found any problems removing all pre commands except for 1 (right click on them and delete) and making the first DVD jump to title 1 (most of the time) root so the menu starts and making the second DVD simply jump to title 1 (most of the time) to it just starts the movie. I also remove all of the post commands. I think this might cause a problem with seamless branching DVD's but not sure.
