Crash: VirtualDub 1.4.13 with XviD Dev

Hi

When using b-frames with VirtualDub 1.4.13, the software crash on the second pass. If you have this problem, download earlier version of VirtualDub.

I installed 1.4.10 and it works fine now.

I thought Vdub 1.4.13 had specific XviD-Bframe fixes in it. In which case switching back to 1.4.10 & using B-frames may be a problem?

The fix in 1.4.13 was for packeted bitstream with XviD like the fix for DIVX5. 1.4.10 with b-frames, no packeted bs, works perfectly. I encoded 4000 frames and nocrash. 1.4.13 crashed after 200 frames.

ive only been using virtualdubmod with xvid devel. ive done about 4 2pass encodes with b-frames and no problems so far. doesnt the faq recommend virtualdubmod over virtualdub?

VirtualDubMod is based on VirtualDub. Both crashes at the same place. I'm encoding now with no b-frames and it works #1. I miss my b-frames... :(

what build of xvid are you using? im still using koepis nov-16 unstable build

I was using:

XviD-09122002-1.exe (386kb)

Now I'm testing the lastest from unimac. It seems to be stable with VirtualDub...

well i just did a first pass last night (~25 minute animation) decombyv12 b-frames... second pass is tonite.. i'll report on how it goes tomorrow. It may not be long enough to be a good test, tho' :(


the other encodes ive done with that build was 2+ hours

I'm having better luck with the avisynth_2.5a_171202 build. The build from the 16th seem to be a little unstable on my system for some reason. It might be worth a try for you...

2nd pass went fine... im using avisynth alpha 111102

Guess I spoke to soon, the 2.5a build from the 17th is working fine on my AMD box but still crashing the Intel PIII system in Vdub.

Has anyone been able to narrow down if the problem is with the XviD-09122002-1 build or the alpha builds of AVS? Guess I'll try an older version of AVS 2.5a on the PIII system and see what happens:rolleyes:

When crash occured, I was using:

DVD2AVI (Force FILM) --> VFAPIConv --> VirtualDub

Now, this don't crash:

DVD2AVI (No Force FILM) --> VFAPIConv --> VirtualDub (inverse telecine)

Works great now, but a little slower.

Koepis build 03012003 works O.K., but only for lower quants. Many videos with end credits quants higher >17 fails at encoding. I dont know, if quant>17 is exactly crash limit. Maybe >16, >17, >18, >19, >20? I dont know...
