Can anyone tell me the correct settings to use in CCE 2.66.01.07 when you want to take advantage of its pulldown menu.
I had an NTSC movie which was 99% Film by DVD2AVI and Progressive by bitrate viewer, so I generated a .d2v keeping it at 29.97.
In CCE I checked the following settings:
3:2 pulldown
letterbox hint
add sequence header
DVD compliant
16 to 235 luminance
29.97 frame rate
progressive flag
zigzag block scanning
The resulting m2v is very jerky and eratic on my pc monitor. Am I using the wrong settings?

I read somewhere else in the forums that you keep it at 29.97 and CCEs pulldown detects that it is progressive that has had pulldown applied to it, reverses this, recompresses and then applies the pulldown flag again at the end.
Is this a wrong interpretation?. There are no clear instructions on how to use these features!

It appears you have the settings correct, but like you said, there isn't alot of info on this feature. You may want to check the pulldown settings and see what it was trying to do. From what I can see this feature doesn't have any settings to adjust it's auto detection (other than letterbox/P&S) which only leaves manual override if it fails, which appears to be complicated and alot of work.
I would only recommed using CCE's pulldown if your material is Hybrid, otherwise IVTC it (decomb, or forcefilm) for film and encode as interlaced for video.
I've had mixed results with the hybrid marterial I have tried it on.
Larry Sanders episode, 2.66.01.02 pretty good, It's a mix of film and video segments, CCE did try to pulldown some parts of the low motion video segments, causing jerky motion, but the film segments were pulled down correctly.
Buffy ep, 2.66.01.0x tried a few versions with mixed results, but none completely successful. With 01.07 it just stopped attempting pulldown after the first couple of minutes and encoded it as video.
Cowboy Bebop 2.66.01.07 Perfect. I did the first DVD and the results were great.

So is ur suggestion to use force film to 23.97 as I use to before. If I check the pulldown will it then apply the pulldown flag making the final m2v 29.97 again?. Do I select 29.97 as frame rate and do I check the progressive flag?

I would forcefilm and check progressive in CCE, encoding as 23.976fps and then use pulldown.exe to change it to 29.97fps (as normal with film sources).
CCE is pulldown *detection*, not normal pulldown. It detects if the video (29fps) is pulled down and reverses the proccess (IVTC to 23fps) and inserts the pulldown flags (back to 29fps). It does perform pulldown as the second part, but only after it IVTCs a segment, so there is no net change in FPS. That's why I like it for hybrid material, because it can select the film parts then IVTC and pulldown them, but leave the video segments alone.
