Chapters in CCE

Hej

I'm doing the LOTR DVD 3 at the moment, and for this I need to insert chapter points in CCE.

When I type in the frame number in the chapter list ex. 2270, and press set, the next box says 00000 2270 .

When I type the next chapter ex. 2280 and press set, the box will say 00000 2280, but the 2270 is gone.

Should all the chapter point be written at the same time, or how is it done ??

Why don't you use the chapterlist from the DVDDecrypter for use in CCE ??
Just import and OK.

MPEG2 uses GOPs (Groups of Picutures) usually in 12 or 15. Only the first frame in a GOP can be decoded by itself, the rest need to reference the previous or/and next picture. These frames need to be played thru and cannot be jumped to as a chapter point. Adding a chapter frame in CCE ensures that CCE encodes that frame at the start of a GOP so you can jump exactly to that frame. Otherwise you will jump to the start of the nearest GOP, which could be +/- 1/2 second from where you intended to be.

You still need to add the chapters in your authoring program later on.

If the GOPs are 12 or 15 frames and you use nearest GOP, you're looking at a possible +/- 1/4 of a second.

From what you say it sounds like you are typing in the box just below where it says "Chapter list". This is to set the name for a chapter, the actual position is taken from the box at the right of the "Frame search" slider. Therefore if this is what you are doing then you are actually setting multiple chapter names at 00000.
i.e when the list box says "00000 2270" it means a chapter called "2270" at position "00000".
Type your frame numbers in the box to the right of the "Frame search" slider then give it a name in the "Chapter list" box (if you want) and hit the "Set" button.
I did several encodes before I realised that this is the way it works.
