I have a "small" project. I will create a PAL DVD, but i'am a little bit confused about all the codecs and procedures..:confused:
Please give my a help, at which point i can increase the quality of the movie.
I've read many threads in this forum about codecs and settings.
Here is the process how i will create my DVD:
- First of all i've captured the the source movie in Adobe Premiere 6.5. (I think, as default Adobe use the Mainconcept Codec for capturing the source movie).
Q: Are there better DV Encoder? Can i use other enc also in Adobe Premiere? I ask because in my opinion there is a little noise in the movie after importing.
Now, after editing, cutting and losing a few nerves *g* i'am ready to expot the movie.
- Exporting the movie:
I will use CCE SP 2.64.01.02. The settings are:
Packet size 2048
Type MPEG-2, Add sequence end code, DVD compliant. I think i dont have to check The upper field first because in the Keyframe and rendering options for exporting movies there is the option set to lower field first.
Time code set to absolute 00:....
VBR 2 passes at avg 8000, min 2000 and max 9800
Quality set complex to 5 and no noise
Quantize matrices set as default
GOP M=3 and N/M=4
Exporting the movie as a .mpv file
Q: Are these the right settings?
- Exporting and converting the audio
Windows Waveform -- Rate 48000Hz -- Format 16bit Stereo
Convert the wav file with TMPGEnc to mp2 with the following settings:
Audio only as Linear PCM 1536kbit/s 48000Hz and stereo.
When i use MPEG-1 Audio Layer II the i have the audio sync problem in muxing the files
Q: Is that right that PCM is anyway better than MPEG- Audio Layer II?
- Compiling, muxing and burning the video to a DVD
In Maestro i set the global settings to PAL, make the menue according the maestro guide.
I create a imagefile and burn it with PrassiDVD on my HP DVD writer 100j. (i know its not the newest ;-))
Uhhhhffff, finished. The movie looks good but i think there is still space for a better DVD quality.
Any comments are welcome. THX a lot.
