Hi,

Just to know your opinion:

A lot of people here support Xvid over RV9 for being open-source, but how "open" is it?

Xvid is based on MPEG-4 which is proprietary, so it's released for educational purposes much like LAME (i think, i haven't read about XVID license). Is this good or bad?

And why not applying the Xvid and H.26L communities knowledge into something better than MPEG-4, based completely on open-source?

Sorry, i'm a n00b and don't know a lot of things:)

I like to think of XVID more as an interactive project. I think its non-profit also. Plus XVID is worked on alot (Nice to have xvid developers on the board :D)

RV9 has atleast some commercial link. Until now, in my opinion XVID produces higher quality. That's why I prefer it over Divx 5 and RV9.
