MPEG1/2 Specs.

Wasn't sure where this belonged but this seemed the most likely spot.

Are there any good resources describing the mpeg1/2 video specification? I'm looking for information on binary reading an mpeg1/2 to located header/stream information as well as any flags within the stream.

Nifty. And here I was getting all depressed that no such public thing existed and I'd have to shell out money for what I wanted. I just took a quick look but those two links seem to have a lot of what I was looking for.

If you also want a general idea of how those behave in a program and elementary stream, I highly recommend reviewing the source for bbmpeg and bbtools. Most comments are useless, unless you speak the language they were written in (sorry, dont know what language it is, so I ignored them), but the variables were well named. Knowledge of C++ is a must there though...

I hope you'll hold your words and release/public your beta of Xsub at 1.1.2003. We all the VCD/SVCD freaks want it very, very badly!!! Finally with your tools we can create Karaoke VCD/SVCD with burned subs and with fantastic effects. Former we can only create Karaoke SVCD with switchable CVD-subtitles(using I-Author Deluxe) but it not be displayed in more than 50% of DVD-Player. With your tool and vobsub/textsub we can create karaoke cds compliant for every player.

So it is important that at least we have it now, than you can improve it(for mpg files or so). Thanks in advance,

Yeah, he released it, and its (just like I originally expected) its absolutely unusable for "timing" anything.

The audio "component" (hi VB) is horribly slow and was never designed to be used in a dynamic timing application. Scrolling the audio during playback - doesn't work, scrolling is slow and unresponsive, load times are horrible... oh well, this isn't the thread for talking about this anyway.

Yeah, he released it, and its (just like I originally expected) its absolutely unusable for "timing" anythingUnlike you - I always expect good things. Thou I've not tried it and cannt verify you statements, but I think he will improve it to somewhat usable somedays.
For the time issure(slow) - I would use it only for encoding in avisynth/vobsub, not for realtime playback, so I can still hope the could be useful anyway.
