View Full Version : mpeg file to long for burning
kees44

Hi There
I have the newest dvd2svcd update but the problem is that the mpeg file is to long, the bit calculation is not right, it has to be 1,7 mb sec and it go,s 2,2 mb second, the previous versions has the problem that is was 40 seconds to long, and i have to use overburn, but my stand alone don,t like overburned cd,s and freezing the movie neer the end of it.
Please check this error and make the bit calculation some smaller file sizes. For the rest this program give,s really good kwality movieseven on low bitrate.
thanks

There is a real lack of info in your post. How do you expect anyone to help or even know what you are talking about specifically.
What size are you trying to make?
Where is your log file cut and pasted into your post?
What is the source AVI or DVD?
If, as I suspect, you are trying to make a SVCD and set the bitrate calc CD size to less then 700 there does seem to be an issue with that.
You can manually override the bitrate calc built into DVD2SVCD by finding out what the MAX Avg should be and limiting DVD2SVCD to that size. This way you are assured of a correctly sized Mpg.

You maybe getting the way the bitrate tab works wrong.
I don't think it's a bug. I think it's that you don't understand it.
Most DVD players will play a SVCD of 806-807MB's without issue and it burns no problem without overburning as it's a SVCD and not data.
It won't calculate 3 cd's unless you told it to calculate 3 cd's by accident.
You must consider the whole movie time not what you want on each cd.
So your movie is about 112 minutes. So you need to set the Bitrate tab to read.
Between 100 and 125 (since 112 falls between 100 and 112) use 2 cd's. I bet it says 3 there now.
If your DVD player is strange and cannot play the normal 806mb SVCD's then you can manually change the cd size from 800 to 794 or so.
Please make sure it's a bug before you say it is one next time. The program is working exactly as it's suppose to. It looks like user error here this time.

Hi there
I have cd1 0 tm 60, then cd2 60 tm 120 then cd3 120 tm 140 etc.
it always work yhis way, but now it gives a bitrate 2230 to cce encoder. I don,t now why, i have deinstall dvd2svcd and reinstall it, and try again, win xp has sometime,s strange behaviour.

One question where can i change the cd size manually i only see 800 or 740 mb, maybe the ini file?

As is said several times in the forum already, and in the Q&A (I think), you don't have to use just the 2 CD sizes in the bitrate tab. Just type in whatever size you want.

Tja this is clear for me now, but not clearly enough if don,t now it, i see that i can make it blue and then type the size in it, I can emagine that most of the people don,t see it, as you says you have tell it on the forum several times, if you now where the million dollar is then it is not difficult to be a millionaire though.

This is wrong. The sections do not build. If the time of the movie does not fall between the time specified DVD2SVCD ignores that section. The only section used is where the full length of the video falls.
If your final Bin file is 807mb's or less it should burn without overburning and play without issue in your DVD player. If you are sure that it won't by testing then just type in the CD size you want and remember that DVD2SVCD adds about 6mb's to this size in the final Bin.

While this is an active thread I'll add a similar situation that I ran into a couple of weeks ago.
Im not sure if I am doing something wrong with this particular project, but for some reason, with DVD2SVCD v1.1.0 build 1a, the image created is too large for 700 MB cdr's (800MB Image Size). This
is the only movie Ive had problems with using this version, and I have never encountered this problem with previous versions. Just to be sure, I uninstalled the older version before I installed the 1.1.0 b1 then the update to 1.1.0 b1a. I can't see that it is a problem with updating to the newer version as I have encoded others with this version and had no problems. I figured I'd post my log file to
see if someone notices anything obvious and could post a possible solution (other than just adjusting the bitrate).

On a side note, I was wondering, if I was to use the RoBa method, could I just enter the avg bitrate value that this log file produced (1858 or lower to fit on 2 cd's) into the Max. avg and give it a
go? (I know I should do more homework on the subject, the idea just popped into my head, and it will end up being an experimental journey over the next few days trying to get this to fit on 2 cd's)
Thanks to all that provide the amazing support/ideas on this forum!!
