HELP! -Too BIG even after IFOedit strip

I have a problem where I've finally figured out the basics in using IFOedit to strip the extra junk to fit my burn into a DVD-R. But I have this one movie that is still at 5.01Gb even afterwards. Is there any way I can strip it down to less? I find it senseless to go for the double-side burns.

thanks but I've seen the pages dedicated this problem before...but this is happening after I've already stripped the movie down and still have too much data to burn.

How far are you stripping to? Are you going down to just the main movie with one audio and no subtitles? If movie is still too big, your options would be...

1. re-encode
2. cut the credits section out.
3. split DVD to 2 disks

I hate making something into 2 dvd's...makes no sense to me.

Cutting the credits out would be nice, but I think that most of the time it's actually part of the last ID# in the main movie files. So I'd have to edit that VOB file.

As for re-encoding, is there anything faster to use other than rempeg? The amount of time it takes is ridiculous.

finally i figured out how to use vobedit

demux last vob
delete last cell that has credits
rejoin rest of the cells

this way u can gain 100-200MB. but u still have a lot to cut to fit a 4.7GB disc.

demux other vobs & delete cells and remux.

re-encode could be faster

Use CCE to reencode the video way faster and better than rempeg.

but can u use cce with ifo edit?

i know there are stickys on this subject but they get bogged down with arguments usually.

what i would like to know is what "faults" occur when u re-encode with cce?
is it just that the scene select/chapters don't line up??

coz i can live with that if thats all it is.

Unfortumately, there are many movies out there that even after stripping every last bit of extra stuff off, they will be too big for 1 DVD. Personally, at $1.25 each I don't mind and it's a lot less work, but that's me. Many of the older movies, by the way, will fit onto a single DVD, but not most new ones. Even the Back to the Future Trilogy, with the first movie from 1985, require 2 if you don't want to work too hard.

if you want just the main movie, i.e. without the main menu.
you could try DVD2DVD-R. is't very easy to use.
you need CCE 2.50 installed seperately.
