divx 3.11 content playback in winxp

I have a big problem: I just bought a new PC with WINXP Home edition OEM version. I installed both the DivX 5.02 and the 3.11 codecs. Now... all divx 5.02 content plays without any problem. BUT.... all 3.11 content is not visible at all. The .avi files are nowhere to be found. I insert a CD with 3.11 content and in windows explorer the cd seems invisible. The cd doesn't seem to contain my movie file. Even in my Nero explorer there is no trace of the avi. The 3.11 content has been ripped in win ME. Is this a known problem?

P4 2.66
8xAGP-Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128 DDR

that doesn't sound like a codec problem. download isobuster from http://www.isobuster.com/ and try and see what you can salvage from the CD. My guess is the CD is messed up in some way, so that XP can't read it (I had the same thing happen on me with a few discs when I switched from windows 98 to windows 2000 - isobuster was a lifesaver back then).
