I used a guide for dvdr9 to dvdr5 conversion.I used dvd2av1 v1.76 and tmpgenc plus, spruce maestro and gear prodvd to burn discs.I can only play them on my PS2 and not on any of my 2 dvd players,a poineer and a reoc a3.I have a pioneer 105 dvd writer.
Any ideas.

Have you researched your DVD players to see what type of Media they can playback. Not all players can play DVD-R / DVD-RW media.
I'm supprised about the Pioneer (but maybe its an old model?), and I dont know anyting about the Reoc, but I'm guessing that their ability to read (laser or whatever) is not as advanced as the PS2. Also the type of media you use is a factor, the cheaper quality (not necessarily price) stuff will not play on as many platforms. There are some good threads to look up in the DVD Burning (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=60) forum.

If your dvd player supports DVD-/+ media then use Nero and select the DVD-rom(UDF) mode to burn your VIDEO_TS folder. My toshiba wouldnt play anything burned other than nero. Just make sure you select the DVD-rom(UDF) mode and NOT the DVD-rom(udf/iso). Also select options:
-NO multisession
-Physical partition 1.02
