Hi all , well i am sure this has been touched on , but i cant seem to find the correct fix.
Disk has the extra's in VTS_8_x , has 16 PGCS in it , do the DVD2AVI , CCE , Ifoupdate to get chapter points, author with Maestro , place 16 playlists in ,put in the chapter points ( 32 chapters, 2 in each PGC) , put into Maestro , compile, and use Ifoupdate get IFO corrected for new compressed VTS , clips looks great, all the correct chapter points , works from menu's etc.
HOWEVER , the audio is way out of sync after PGC 3.
Tried using create sync audio , before compiling , but no change in result.
Not sure what to do next , any help
Regards & thanks

well I'm in the same boat as you. I have also looked at the vedio all the way thru with dvd2avi and have found that the video switched from film 95+% to NTSC and back several times. this throws in a few extra frames that fall between the segments of the video(where the dead spots are between filming segemnts) well I have tried several methods and always have the video longer than the audio. in my most recent try the movie is in sync perfectly at first then right when it switches from film to NTSC the audio is 1-2 seconds behind. I'm trying to find a program that'll let me remove about a second of the movie right where the transision takes place so that the audio will fit. if this proves to hard then I will try adding a dead zone into the audio track around the same place to make the audio longer by adding not stretching. I just wish there is was a better way.

I wonder if we couldn't use the old 29.97fps SVCD method. You lose some quality (more frames to encode) but also avoid the headaches!

It probably wouldn't help. Look and see if there is any audio in the track you've chose in PGC3... Sometimes the track will be empty (there may be audio on another track) and it will cause the loss of sync.

I'm having audio synch problems too... I'm trying to author Full Metal Jacket it looks really easy its only 4 pgc's
Playlist 2 PGC1 Main Movie starts at 00:00:17
Playlist 1 PGC2 Starts at 00:00:00
Playlist 3 PGC3 Starts around 1:54:06
Playlist 4 PGC4 Starts around 1:56:25
I copy whole dvd to HD run dvd2avi on it then encode it with cce run delay corrector on ac3 file run pulldown create 4 playlists in maestro and drag the appropriate chapters to each playlist author and sound out of synch is there anything im doing wrong?

If you run into one of the multiple PGC movies that have PGCs with no audio -- you can't use the Maestro Multiple PGC method to copy the DVD. The output from DVD2AVI just doesn't handle empty sound in PGCs very well...
I would suggest you try the DoitFast4U method on these. It breaks out the PGCs individually for you. You'll need ReelDVD or Scenarist to do it that way though...

Nooo not scenarist :) heheh tried to avoid using it guess I cant anymore. Ill try using this method... So from now on if I see a multi PGC movie that has no time in it I cant use the ifoupdate/maestro method Ill have to use scenarist?

I'm working on a way to get around it, something along the lines of tricking the system into placing them at the end of the stream in a fake IFO before you run DVD2AVI... The Maestro method is just so damned easy I hate to ever do anything else.
I'm also working on a way to handle the streams at the cell level (I'm almost done with that) so it can work with the recent rash of PGCs that have repeated cells/sectors throughout them.

That sounds like a winner to me :) I think I can wait for you to finish :) hehe I was just looking at the trilight guide for multi pgc and scnearist looks like a bitch. Since full metal jacket (version i got from my bro) doesnt have a menu Ill just rip the main movie pgc and encode that and burn and move on the some more dvd's but when I run into another multi pgc ill check back here to see what updates you have :)
Thanks again jdobbs

HI all , well i was wondering how you go about putting some of the more trouble some mutli pgc's back together in Meastro.
example - there seems to be a lot of DVDs, with multi PGCS ( some only with 4 pgcs) that run into audio sync problems when using the current Ifoupdate, Maestro guides, and on some occations you must just rip the movie pgc & other clips PGC's seperatly either via vobedit or smartripper etc , but i am runing into problems putting all back together in Meastro.
Is there a good guide on how this is done.
To date i have been able to do this , by trying Meastro , Infupdate methord , if it fails , i take note of each entry, exit pgc's chapter points , then start again at the begining , and do each notable PGC ( nothing smaller than 1 second) and try and put it back in maestro , this has been a bit of hit and miss , but has worked on 6 dvds , that would not work the other ways.
A description of how others do it in meastro , or always works guide on indervidal ripped PGC's put back together with Maestro would be really good.
Thanks and sorry for the length of the post

I haven't been able to figure out a way to do that in Maestro. I don't know what they were thinking when they made it possible to add on an additional video stream, but you couldn't append the audio...

i was wondering if the the author of DVD2AVI could do something to address multi PGC's ( skip non audio PGCs) when processing the vobs.
IS there a clear reason why DVD2AVI gives a hit or miss on multi pgcs.
Just a thought !!!

Hey Jdobbs what is this message?
- Playlist #2 (PGC #2); [VOB Sector: 0]
- This Playlist uses the chapter point(s) identified in Playlist #1
- Warning: The chapter count isn't the same. You may want to look at this with IFOEdit
Any unlisted PGCs have been determined to be nulls (dummys)
and will remain intact in the original file.
Im trying to copy Xmen. It has two PGC's and there both same length. There both the movie I think but one prob has directories comments or something what would I do in this case using update ifo just the same create 2 playlists and create the same chapters? for each play list?
Thanks

Try doing the backup with "Adjusted Cell Mode" and it will probably work. The two PGCs may point to the same sectors -- but they aren't exactly the same. One of them as fewer chapters than the other.

You will not have to create playlists if you use the Adjusted Cell Mode. Just run the complete movie VTS in DVD2AVI.
Look in the Advanced DVD authoring for the thread New IFOUpdate Version
Good luck
