just had to reinstall avisynth... probably a problem with plugins since i had quite a bunch of them in there...

I'm not ver familiar with the GPL stuff, but if it's legal, why not take a look into the source-code of AC3Filter by Vigovsky Alexander?
Maybe that can help out with the downmixing? I don't know if it's even the same type of programming since all I know is to use, not to program, the tools we use.
