What do you try to make? DVD or SVCD?
Some older players can't play SVCD and others can't play DVD-/+R/W.

But you can't make a SVCD and burn it as DVD...

...and the CD with these folders should play on your standalone. Make sure to check the checkbox "standard conform CD". But Note: I'm using a german version of Nero so this checkbox could be named different.

Some players can't play SVCD.

Can the dvd player read svcd discs? Cos mine can read VCD but not SVCD. If it can u should try creating an image of the svcd files (create the mpg files with another program instead of nero first) and then burn that image.

Some players also get shitty when you overburn your svcd's.
