View Full Version : Please advise about deinterlace

I have 29.97 fps interlaced source. DVD2AVI shows "NTSC interlaced". I'm not quite sure if all frames are combed - some frames (with fast movement) do not show clear combing, but still look like blended from a combed frame. So it's either all frames are combed or 5 of every 6 frames are combed.
I've tried all deinterlace options that are in GKnot .avs files and not one looks good - still some areas show those horizontal lines.
Even separatefields() doesn't make it look good. 59.94fps after separatefields() still have pattern like this :

....x....x.x....x....x.x....x

where:
dots = frames without object shadows
x = frame with shadows

And in every four-dot set - frame 1 looks like copy of 2 with some light difference in brightness. And frame 3 looks like a copy of 4.

What would be best approach to something like that ?

Telecide()
FieldDeinterlace(blend=true)
Decimate()

You'll have blended frames in the output but they won't look objectionable when played at normal speed.

You will have to adjust various threshold for optimal results.

isn't fielddeinterlace implicit within default parameters from telecide()?

@wotef

Silly me. I've got DecombYV12 on my mind. I've not yet put the postprocessing into Telecide there yet. :)

So yes, just:

Telecide()
Decimate()

Thank you for pointing it out.

Ahh sorry I didn't check forum much these days. Thanks for all help and offer :) But I don't have source VOBs anymore.
