PAL SVCD to NTSC

Ok...I got a few SVCDs that I now realize are PAL instead of NTSC. What is the absolute easiest method for converting them to the standard NTSC 480x480 29.97fps?

you can use canopus procoder to convert your streams to ntsc or you can use avisynth wrapped mpeg2 stream and feed it to cce.

you'll need to put

AssumeFPS(23.976,true)
BicubicResize(480,480)

in your .avs file. Now the audio is gonna be the hard part. Essentially you need to stretch your audio track so it's synched with 23.976fps resulting video instead of 25.000 fps source PAL video. You can do it in CoolEdit or TimeFactory. The percentile ratio should be 25/23.976*100 (~104.27094%)

You'll have to convert whatever your original svcd sound format is to .wav before you do the stretch operation. I used BeSweet for conversion.

Easy way often means bad quality. Especially in hard case as this - framerate conversion.
To get reasonable quality you need some knowledge about video standards, interlace etc.

give me a break, the man is converting svcd which is already of inferior quality.

i've converted 4 pal dvds that way with no visible quality degradation although they were all progressive. keep in mind that dvd2avi might report 'interlaced' even though the source is progressive. you'll have to step thru it with vdub to find out if it really is interlaced.

i've tested procoder on the same 4 dvds and it did not provide any visible improvement over avisynth -> cce 2.50. I've tested using:

panasonic dvd-rp82s -> sony wega xbr400

and my hometheater setup

camelot roundtable -> sony pfm-42b2-h
