This is driving me nuts!

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I have a problem and was not sure where I should post it.

I'm having trouble with BSPlayer 492 (Or 490 or 488 for that matter)crashing playing back any DiVX files in Mode 2 overlay mode. It plays them fine in Mode 1 but VobSub 2.22 (Or 2.21,2.20 or 2.18 - not tried 2.19) refuses to load when I have a DiVX with a .sub file.

Also DiVXG400 2.72 does not load in Mode 1 overlay mode. I used to have a problem whereby VobSub would load up but prevent DiVXG400 from loading but would work in Mode 2 overlay.

If I try to play movies in Mode 2 overlay mode I get an error

Then if I click on OK it gives "Bytes at EIP: 8B 00 FF 50 60 33 C0 5A 59 59 64 89 10 68 CB 23 49 00" then a further click of OK closes BSPlayer.

I am also using the latest ffdshow.

Can anyone help me narrow down where the problem lies?

P.S. I must add I tried Zoom Player 2.90 and it works but VobSub still knocks out DiVXG400 (Which I use for overscan compensation as ffdshow's add black boarders is a CPU hog), but am dissapointed in the way Zoom Player handles aspect ratio. Totally ignored any aspect changes I made to a MPG file while BSPlayer stretched it like I asked it too (Wanted to watch an Enterprise episode in 16:9 mode on a widescreen TV).

are you using the newest stable ffdshow (6-17-2002 or the likes), or the newest alpha version (11-13-2002)? BSplayer wouldn't play anything for me in any overlay mode with the 6-17 version of ffdshow, but since using the new alpha builds, BSPlayer is once again my player of choice (plays with DivX5 decoder fine either way).

BSPlayer build 492 is a PITA though. all DivX content won't play, the display is green and full of artifacts. this is not matter which decoder I use. build 486 works perfect though, nothing else changed.

as for ZoomPlayer, you should be able to get the AR correct. it just requires a bit more tweaking than BSplayer. ZoomPlayer seems to be the top choice around here for players, but I don't care for it.

Yes using the latest ffdshow build. The problem is it could be the dshow filter or the player or the VobSub or DiVXG400 or any number of other things/combinations.

May end up using Zoom for subs files and BSPlayer in Mode 1 overlay mode for everything else.
